April 26 (UPI) -- An emergency descent fell disconnected a Delta Airlines Boeing 767 soon aft takeoff Friday, forcing nan level to return to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Delta Air Lines Flight 520 turned astir about a half-hour aft taking off for Los Angeles Friday morning. Pilots aboard nan level reported vibrations and a banging sound not agelong aft takeoff, according to nan Federal Aviation Administration.

Crews past recovered an emergency descent from 1 of nan plane's exits had fallen disconnected nan aircraft, according to Delta.

All 176 customers and 7 unit members exited nan level safely, according to Delta Air Lines. The hose said it substituted different Boeing 767, and passengers were expected to onshore successful Los Angeles 3 and a half hours down schedule.

Police were still searching for nan missing slide early Friday afternoon.

Delta, successful a statement, said it was moving to find wherever nan descent could person landed.

"Delta is afloat supporting retrieval efforts and will afloat cooperate successful investigations," nan connection read.

The FAA is investigating nan incident.

The 33-year aged plane, registration number N176DN, has antecedently had motor problems, a cracked windshield, fume successful nan cockpit and suffered a vertebrate strike.
